Here's Yoda, a pup who came to rescue from an abuse situation, where he was thrown from a car in Ohio and then saved by an onlooker.

Although Yoda was scabbed where he fell on the road (after begin thrown), he had a general condition of little to no fur.

The first step was go have a great veterinarian see him.

The vet first did a skin-scrape, looking at the cells under a microscope. It came back as demodex mange.

There are two kinds of mange, demodex and sarcoptic. Sarcoptic can spread to other dogs and people (!!) -- demodex thankfully cannot be spread.

Our first step was to use a good medicated shampoo to soak Yodie for a bit -- we use the KetoChlor to the right.

A little more on demodectic mange -- as if you really wanted to know -- !!

A medical site, found here, states:

"Demodex in the dog is a common infestation of the dog’s skin with tiny, cigar-shaped, eight-legged mites.  The mites reside and feed in the hair follicle and oil glands of the skin."

And next, he gets some ophthalmic erythromycin in his eyes, to protect them from the next stage --

-- and that stage is the Mitaban. Mitaban is the "dip" Yoda will receive. It is strong stuff and flammable -- !!

Here's the instructions for the Mitaban -- basically, it needs to be diluted, then swabbed on to the dog, and allowed to air-dry.

Here's Yoda after his Mitaban dip. Next, he was put in a low-stress environment and observed for 12 hours.

This treatement is good for two weeks, when he will be assessed again via a skin-scrape and, if necessary, will have the procedure repeated.
