Stories like this make this a hard line of work to be in -- :(

"This is my baby boy Zeus, ~4yrs old. He is neutered and up-to-date on all shots, including rabies. Unfortunately he does have food allergies, and has skin infections due to this. He has been on antibiotics and special all-natural food and medicated baths once a week. I am not working right now and cannot afford medical treatment and the expensive food. I love this dog, therefore I feel he should goto a home where he can be perfectly cared for.

Two and a half years ago, I observed Zeus tied up outside behind a garage year round, on a 4-foot chain. The dog belonged to my neighbors at the time. This dog was left outside in snow storms, heat waves, and thunderstorms. The dog never received attention from anyone. I would always talk to him and try to feed him when I was able. When he would get loose, he would end up on my doorstep. "

"I wanted to take in this dog, but he belonged to my neighbors.

Then, my neighbors moved, however I did not know they left Zeus behind until he showed up at my doorstep looking like a skeleton. They had left him locked in the garage, obviously with no food or water. The dog was nearly dead, yet still so happy and wagging his tail when he arrived.
"

"I called animal control, they picked him up, and he was never claimed. I went back 8-days later to adopt him, telling myself this was temporary, until he was healthy. I took him to the vet and after eating every day for 2 weeks he was up to 45lbs. His ideal weight is 55-60lbs. This dog has since gained his weight and is doing well. I love this dog and he loves to be loved. When I got him he did not know how to play or take a chew treat."

"He was not house-broken, but has since come a long way in a few months. He loves attention and he loves to play, he hates to be left alone. He enjoys running and being chased, he also enjoys long walks.

Zeus can sit on command and get off furniture on command, but has never been to basic obidient school. He does need some additional training, although he does not have major behavior issues."

"Zeus can be a face-nipper when excited, but we are working on "nice kisses".
But I think some training can solve this issue.

He is a great dog, and has become part of my family, but I do want what is best for him. He does not show any food or toy possessiveness, when my 1 yr old takes his favorite toy, he just gently takes it back. They baby sits on his head, pulls his tail, kisses his back, and Zeus takes it all in stride, he loves her. "

"He also sits next to her high-chair when she is eating and is an immediate vaccum, which is great. She loves to feed him and crys and chases him when I put him outside.

I have 2 children and he has never harmed either of them. He has been very tolerant with them both, but would probably do better in a home without children due to his love for attention. He would also need to be the only pet."

"I am looking to place him quickly, but only to the perfect home. He has been through so much and deserves so much more, he will be a great pet. "
