Here's little Bully-Boy, who hasn't seen a great start to life.

His rescuer-momma writes:

"I saw Pinkie on your site. Unfortunately, I know the background on that story. I also have a dog, Bully Boy, in my charge because the same rescuer said she could not take him in when his medical records revealed he was heartworm positive…after she begged me to go to GA and pick him up. A 14 hour day of driving for me. I have since paid for his treatment and he is now fully recovered, but I have not heard from her. I am hoping she will still take him into rescue."

If not, I would be very grateful if you would help me place him. He is a wonderful guy…reminds me quite a bit of Redman in his personality…just as sweet and loving as he can be even though it is obvious he has not had a good life before being picked up as a stray in rural GA. When I brought him home he was covered in ticks, which was an outrage considering he had been neutered only a few days before. How could a vet's office leave him in that condition? I must have pulled over 100 ticks from his body.

There were five and six ticks between every toe, his ears were a mat of ticks. He bears many scars on his body – probably from an untreated tick infestation most of his life. They didn't even bother to treat his ear mite infection. It was just horrible. However, he is in MUCH better shape now.

"I have been boarding him at my vet's office and going to see him everyday during his recovery. I couldn't bring him home because I was sure my six dogs would be too much stimulation for him during the heartworm recovery phase.

When I go to see him, he never barks or howls even though the other dogs in the kennel are barking their heads off. Rather, as I let him out of his kennel so that we can go outside he joyfully runs by each kennel door and greets each dog with a play bow. He is a very handsome boy as you can see in his pictures. He is very compact and reminds me of Buster Brown's dog by the shape of his head."
