Here's Dolly -- a hearing (non-deaf) pit bull, who is a SWEETHEART!
Her angel writes --
"Hi Eric!!! Here is my little girl! Her hair is a little thin from flea allergy and she was filthy which probably didn't help!
She was scared of water at first but realized how good it felt and almost fell asleep leaning on me while I scrubbed her!!!"
"She passed her temp test with no problems at all!!!! She is about 2-3 years old.
She shows no signs of dog aggression, even when the other dogs snap at her through the kennel gates!
I don't think she knows what aggression is!!
She loves to play and will give toys on command."
"But if you do not play with her she is quick to drop the toy and come see why!!
She is such a people dog and needs her people by her side all the time!!
Robert and I had her out in the yard for pic's and he walked away. She DID NOT like that!
! So she pulled herself to the top of the 4 foot fence quicker than I could blink an eye and was ready to jump when I picked her up!
So she will have to be watched even in a fenced yard! After seeing that I have no doubt she will get over most fences with similar ease!!"
"She plays a little rough but calms down wonderfully and quite quickly!
I put an age restriction of 12 on her for that reason only. If you hate the name, her other choice is Cayanne, but she is my Dolly dalmation. Dolly because she is just a doll and you can see for yourself the dalmation part!!! She shows no signs of abuse or mistreatment but she did something weird with her food test.
Once I got my hand in there, she backed up and flinched and walked a little tilted?!"
"I could not get her to come back to the bowl and had to hand feed her. Her issue seemed to be fear of the food bowl!!!
She doesn't do that in her kennel, though! Just thought I'de throw that in there incase you have any ideas why she might do that!
All we could think is that she was hit with a food bowl at some point in her life. But she has no fear issues and is not hand shy!"
"She is full of love and very entertaining!!! A really fun girl!!! Thanks for helping with her!
She deserves every chance at a wonderful home she can get!!!"
Well, what better a testimony would a potential adopter WANT in a girl, really!
The big question is, can YOU deliver for Dolly? Can you promise her loving, responsible ownership for the rest of her days??!!
If so, fill out an adoption application above!

Dolly in foster!
Well, Dolly's time was up at the shelter, and she was due for an uncomfortable decision -- :(
We got the word out that this girl needed help, and Lisa and her husband in Albany, NY were kind enough to offer Dolly a foster home -- !!
WIth that foster home came the usual suspects -- a niece and a nephew!
Fostering is a great way to go for pups, because you really get to see their interactions with others in various situations, as compared to how they respond in a shelter run.
Well, with the little-uns, she passed --
-- with flying colors!
Look at that little girl's shirt -- I love the blue dog -- !!
And Molly passed everything --
-- all the "oohs" and "aahs" and the "what's that" and the pets and prods --
-- GOOD GIRL, DOLLY!
Molly also loves her foster Dad -- of course --!! |
And she has even proven herself wonderful with other pups, as seen here, with her foster brother, Thorne -- !! |
Dolly was recently spayed, and there was a small complication -- her foster mom, Lisa, writes --
"Dolly had a seroma and the superficial wound edges were healed, it has to heal from the inside out, staples allow for drainage to escape from the wound...
she is such a good girl...she was wiggling her butt and giving kisses to Dr. Hartman, one would think that she would remember that he cut her last week."
"She took her staples like a trooper, didn't even flinch! This just confirms that Dolly will love you no matter what you do to her...
she is everything opposite the typical pit-bull stereotype."
Well, what a little lady Ms. Dolly is, and how thankful I am that Lisa and company were able to help her out at this otherwise terminal time in her life --
-- Lisa has introduced her and tested her in a variety of situations, and she has come up ROSES -- and THAT'S what we like to see -- !!
So, for now, Miss Dolly is in no rush, healing from her spay, and enjoying her life in Upstate New York... |
... but what Dolly really, really wants is a place to call her own --
-- could that be your home? Are you good enough for Dolly? If you are, she'll work awfully hard to be good enough for you!
THANK YOU, Lisa and everyone, for helping her get this far, and if you, the reader, are interested in this little lady, fill out an application above!

Dolly in her new digs!
Well, there are still plenty of great people out there, and Lisa proved that with her fostering of Dolly.
Dolly was at a dead-end in her Jersey shelter, and Lori, the shelter employee, sent out a plea for Dolly's sake.
Lisa saw her on our forum, pbsmiles, and said, "How can I help?" --
-- from there, Dolly was saved.
After some months of fostering, we got a great application --
-- Adam in CT.
Adam is the brother of Amy, who adopted Ramsey (aka Merle) from SPBR in 2005 --
-- his story is here.
Well, upon arriving at Adam's home, Dolly was a little lady --
-- Lisa, by the way, did the entire fostering, home visit and placement on her own -- !!
Here's little ms dolly, giving paw --
-- for a cast of characters, Lisa writes --
"
Hi Eric... Dolly is now officially Adam's dog. The home visit was great and they are very nice people. Adam is the guy in the pictures, the lady with the white pants is his mother (grandma) The girl with the grey sweatshirt is a friend, Amylynn is in Black, and Adam's girlfriend was wearing the red sweatshirt."
Well, here's Amy, and a rather pensive Dolly -- |
-- not for long -- !!
Dolly seems to almost wiggle on up to Amy --
-- and LOOK at those SPOTS -- I love them -- !!
Next, it's time for a little charm-schooling with the girls --
-- and Dolly's a natural --
-- just LOOK at those spots on her HEAD -- !!
Lisa was so kind to have Dolly GROOMED before her home visit --
-- so there were no pinched noses, just a little lady showing these folks what a great addition she could be to their family -- !!
And next, it's Grammies -- |
-- and Dolly nestles right in -- |
-- and GLOATS - she's so happy, and it shows -- !!
Lisa writes --
"Dolly was amazing...she was shy when she first went inside and her tail was tucked, but within 5 minutes her butt was wiggling away. She had perfect manners and did not jump on anyone, she sat and waited to get pet, she gave lots of high 5's and even did a down stay.."
"She rolled over onto her back and exposed her belly for belly rubs and was such a ham.
I was honest with them about some of her issues...counter surfing, eating garbage, stealing toys from other dogs and tummy issues and they seemed OK with it."
And finally, here she is with her new Dad, Adam -- !!
Lisa adds --
"I did recommend that they leave her leash on until they know for sure how Dolly is with the cats...you never know what could happen once everyone gets comfortable...and they were receptive."
Here, the picture speaks so much better than words --
-- they are all so happy, and Dolly is home.
Lisa finishes --
"I cried on my way home, but they gave me a good feeling. Adam gave me good vibes, I do trust him and Amy is going to help him out with Dolly too. Lisa"
This is what life's all about -- people like Lisa who reach out beyond their normal comfort-zone to give to the deserving -- and in giving to Dolly, Lisa received Dolly's unconditional love.
GREAT WORK, ALL!
