Well, the past weeks have gotten me back in touch with my lawyer-side, attending classes like this (zzzzz), and getting emails like this one, which are much more fun -- !!

"My name is Paola and I am a lawyer and a pit bull "parent." I just came across the following email. I don't know if maybe you know of somebody who could save this very adorable dog. By the way, we love your website and rescue mission. We started feeding Coco (our pit-bull) the Oma's raw food and he loves it and looks much healthier. We also bought him the blocky dog collar :) I am sending this to everyone I know but so far, no good responses. I would love to adopt her but our place is already small enough for one 85 lb little monster!

Thanks so much, Paola."

And then I got this one --

"Eric,

A colleague of mine recommended that I contact you. About a month ago, I found a small pit bull wandering the streets in Uniondale, Long Island.
She did not have any tags or a collar and I approached her and gave her water and a bagel. I noticed she was bleeding from her ear and under her neck. I called a few vets and they suggested I call the Town Animal Shelter. I waited with her for about two hours.
"

"They picked her up and said she was a pit bull, probably around 8 months old and it looked like she had been used to fight (and most likely did not fight back...she did not seem aggressive at all). They said this happens a lot, and when they don't fight back, they are usually abandoned.

I was very upset at the thought that they were taking her to the Town Shelter that does not have a no kill policy, so I put in a "do not destroy" claim. I had not heard anything for a few weeks which I took to be a good sign. Unfortunately, I received a call last week that she needs to be claimed. The shelter informed me that her file states that she is scared, but sweet and non-aggressive. I cannot attest to her personality except that I went to visit her at the shelter this past weekend and she was jumping in my lap, ate treats out of my hand and let me take a bone out of her mouth.

I am attaching a picture I took of her the day I found her...she is quite pretty!!! Please let me know if you know of someone who might be interested in her or if your shelter is able to accommodate her as her time is limited at the Town Shelter (I have already contacted MANY shelters, unfortunately, due to the hurricanes, many are filled to capacity).

Thank you!!!! Pamela"

So, another "pit bull gone wrong" story??

Not if you can help it -- !! If you're interested in really helping this girl, having her as an only pet, and willing to put up with her beauty (!!), fill out an adoption application above!
