Here's Fresa, a sweet girl from a high-kill shelter. She is not working out in her home, and her mom would like to re-home her. She writes -

"Her name, Fresa, is pronouned fray-suh and means strawberry in Spanish. I picked that name because she has a little red nose. She is a great little dog, perfect in almost every way and has certainly come a long way in her training since I got her."

"The only problem is she doesn't seem happy living with me here.  We have gone through some major diet issues, trying to find a food that her tummy likes.  I thought that maybe tummyaches were keeping her down.  And boy, did all the diet problems make housebreaking a really long process.

But I have had her long enough now to see that she is suffering from isolation.  I am gone all day long and she is home alone."

"Even when I am home, I live alone and it is a very quiet house.  I have a cat, which she thinks is the most wonderful thing, but the cat is not interested in having a friend.

I am sad to think that the only option for her to have a better quality of life is for her to live in a home with more humans or maybe a dog, where she feels more a part of a group, especially since before coming to me, she was always around more dogs and people.  I think she is not doing well in a pack of just two, her and me.

So it is with a heavy heart that I write you and ask if you know of any homes that might want a perfect little pit bull like her, where she might have a happier life.  She is about 10 months old, and weighs 30 pounds."

"I think she will put on a few more pounds but she hasnt rown ay since I got her.

She loves to curl up on my lap when I sit cross legged.  She is very smart.  She learns commands very fast for a treat.  She knows sit, stay, lay down, drop, off (to not take food), okay (permission to eat food), drop (to let go of toys), crate.  She has been housebroken for about a month.  She stands in front of the kitchen door to ask to go out.

Her only problem is holding it all day long when I'm gone, but she makes it through the night."

"Like I said, she okay with cats, and would love to play with mine if he would play back.  She hardly EVER barks, which is nice.  She is great riding in the car, loves to go for walks, loves to meet new people, and really likes to play with other doggies.  She is a princess about getting a bath.

So in summary, she is quite perfect to me, everything I wanted in a dog, but she just hasn't been thriving and having fun here."

Well, Fresa is CERTAINLY a beauty, and it sounds like she is a great little girl --

-- housebroken, fun-loving, good with other dogs --

-- what more could you want??!!

Of course, responsible pit bull ownership still comes along with her, so she won't be placed with another female, and if she is placed with another dog, she should be crated when unattended --

-- these things she's already used to!

So, do you want to make this little girl's world shine again?

Can you bring that apple back to her eye?

IF SO, fill out an adoption application above!
