Here is pretty Gremmie -- her dad writes --
"Dear Eric, We have had our son's dog, for the last 5 yrs. Her name is Gremmie. She is 8 yrs. old, spayed, and a Lab / Pitbull cross. Gremmie is fantastic with humans, and has never exhibited any aggressive tendencies toward adults or children. However, she has demonstrated what behaviorists have described as fear based aggression toward some, but certainly not all, dogs. She has been in 3 – 4 altercations with other dogs in her life, but has never broken the skin or caused any injury. We currently live on an island in Maine."
|
"Unfortunately, Gremmie managed to escape from a new large chainlink paddock recently during a thunderstorm, and, in our absence, went after another dog. The dog was not injured, but the owners were frightened. This ultimately has led to Gremmie's removal from the island. She is currently housed at a veterinary hospital where I work but cannot stay much longer.
Despite an extensive search, I've been unable to find anyone willing even to foster her. We are now facing the decision of whether we will have to euthanize her. She's a very happy dog, loves to swim, play fetch, and just generally enjoys company."

" She's an excellent house dog. Needless to say I'm growing more distressed and desperate. Do you have any information or suggestions which might help??
Sincerely, Jeff DVM"

So, there are a couple of points to note here --
-- first, NEVER leave your dog in a fenced in yard unattended -- little Gremmie was probably scared to death of the lightening, and chain link fences are quite easy for dogs to scale!
Also, Gremmie has minor dog aggression -- I have seen strong dog aggression in a couple of females, and this girl seems to be much more predictable and not absolutely nuts when she sees another dog, but she still needs to be placed in an only-dog home and enviroment.

So, the odds are stacked against this girl --
-- she's a senior pit-mix, she's black, and she has minor dog aggression --
-- BUT, when you look beyond that, she's a BEAUTY of a girl, she loves people, and I am sure Dr. Jeff would give you a good stocking up of heartworm meds upon her adoption -- !!
