Preface

None of these dogs is in a stable situation -- all of them are fighting for their lives, for one reason or another -- living in states where the laws discriminate against them, or in homes where their time is up and their next stop is the kill shelter.

Please strongly consider the loves on this page -- and fill out an application above for one of these loves -- if you can't adopt, please forward this page to those who may be able to help --

Puddin'

My name is Puddin’.

I am two or three years old, spayed, current on my vaccinations, fully housebroken and crate-trained. I have been with my foster family for over a year and love living with a family.

When I first came here I was really skinny and hadn’t been well taken care of, but now I’m a normal weight (about 65 pounds) and am happy and healthy.

I am great with people of all ages, including my foster parents and their friends, the five-year-old boy who lives with me and his elderly grandparents who come to visit sometimes.

I really like the dogs I live with, but I don’t always like new dogs when I first meet them—it takes me awhile to get to know them and become friends. I’ve never really lived with cats, so I don’t know if I like them or not.

I am very playful and think it is lots of fun chasing a ball or stick in the yard. I walk well on a leash when Dad takes me out each night.

I LOVE my peanut-butter-filled Kong (which Mom gives me every day in my crate while she’s at work) and will do just about anything for a Snausage.

But if you need to take my toys, food, bone or treats away from me I’ll let you and will never growl or resist. More than anything I love to snuggle with my people.

While they watch TV or read in the evening I curl up on the couch beside them with my head in a lap and nap (and snore).

If you let me, I would love to sleep with you at night. I don’t bark a lot, but am a great alarm-barker. After Mom or Dad tell me that a stranger is OK or let them into the house, I calm down quickly. I need a safe, loving, forever home.

Hercules

My name is Hercules, a 10-week old pit bull puppy in an Ohio shelter --

-- and many people are trying very hard to get me out of Ohio and to a home where I am loved for who I am, not just my breed -- a breed which, in Ohio, rarely if ever escapes the shelter alive.

Peanut and Luke

Both boys weighed 21 pounds as of Saturday, March 5th. They are now both 15 weeks each. They are up to date on shots, and will be neutered and microchipped in 2 weeks. They have great temperments and are just all around love bugs. Please pass this picture to anybody you know with a great home looking for a great dog that will love them forever. This is a picture of them on Saturday at an adoption event at Petsmart. Aren't they adorable?

Echo

Echo's foster momma writes:

Echo is one of the pit bulls I rescued from euthanasia late last year. She is a 3-year old spayed female, about 50#. Echo is a beautiful, intelligent, wonderful dog -- she is great with adults and children. Unfortunately she was attacked by another dog in her previous home and thus she is now unreliable with other dogs (I've had an animal behaviorist test her), so she must be placed in a home where she is the only dog. Echo is fully vaccinated. She loves to play and cuddle.

Since I have 4 dogs of my own (one of whom is the previously rescued pit), I cannot foster Echo in my home and have been paying for her to be boarded at a nice facility, and I see her every day for walks, play, and love. I have tried to find her a forever home but have not found a suitable one yet. She is listed on PBRC and another pit rescue site (and I've posted flyers, etc., around town), but I haven't gotten any interest in her (the only people who have been interested are the type of people who should NEVER own a dog, let alone a pit bull).

My problems are: 1) I am running out of money and 2) I am 8+ months pregnant with my first child...........I am scared to death about what will happen to Echo when I can no longer pay for boarding and/or have my baby and am incapacitated for weeks.

Can you PLEASE help me? Is there any way you could take Echo? She is such a GREAT dog -- she deserves a chance a life and a loving home!!

Capone

This is a follow-up e-mail to the one I sent you last night about the pit bull with an awesome temperament. As I mentioned last night, he gets along great with our Chihuahua and cat that were already here when my son-in-law found the dog in West Springfield.

Attached is a picture of "Capone" (the name my daughter and son-in-law gave the pit bull).

If you need more pictures I can send them one at a time. For some reason when I tried to send more than one it didn't work.

Adoption fee includes neuter, shots and heartworm test! Microchipping is $25 extra, and strongly suggested.

Sasha

Sasha is the unfortunate victim of a divorce. Her dad, Richard, bought her at 6 weeks old and he and his wife Jennifer are going through a divorce and Richard has just dropped the ball on everything including taking care of his pitbull that he had to have. Jennifer has 2 animals of her own and she is renting a house so is unable to take Sasha in. She loves Sasha very much and wants her to be well taken care of.

Me, I am just a serious animal lover and can't stand the thought of this sweet little girl not having a chance at life! So, please say you can help us give her a chance.
Thank You So Much!!!!!!

Baby

a little rough of an email, but you get the jist --

I just spoke with Eric this afternoon regarding a lovely little one year old female that was dumped at our vets office two months ago. She has been chained since being a pup and as you can imagine spending the first year of her life that way has left her very timid. She cowers when you reach to pet her and is really just very afraid, however, if you will sit and quietly talk to her she comes right to and readily accept treats. She has actually come quiet a long way since she first came to the clinic by way of her irresponsible 'owner'. I will attach a picture of her to this e-mail, she is a Pit mix, although obviously mostly Pit.

I think that if you might be interested in her it would possibly be a good idea to send her up to Eric and have him evaluate her and then get together with you so he can see what he thinks of her, perhaps a foster arrangement could be worked out. The clinic is anxious to get her placed and Eric and I are trying to work out something for her.

Birdie

I am trying very hard to find a permanent home for my foster dog Birdie. I rescued this wonderful
year-old pup from a local shelter and I have been training and loving her ever since. Birdie has a wonderful submissive temperament and she will certainly make an amazing companion for a responsible and loving home.

This little girl has NO aggression issues whatesoever and I have been training her basic obedience (heel, sit, stay, down, come, ect.) for the past month. Birdie does suffer from separation anxiety, but this is a problem that is slowly improving over time, as she has only been out of the shelter for a month. I am becoming very close with this pup but I am also very eager to find her a home, mainly because I am VERY, VERY allergic to her (which is not common for me).

If anyone is interested or knows anyone who may be interested in a great little Staffie girl, PLEASE let me know. If possibe, I would love to put her in a home that one of you guys recommend, simply because I know that everyone in this forum has a level of knowledge, compassion, and respect for these dogs. Birdie is a special girl and anyone who is looking for a pup would be lucky to have her. Thanks everyone and I really would appreciate if you guys could help me out. Again, thank you.
