Here's little Piper, in Upstate New York -- his rescuer writes --

"He's definitely a puppy, about 35 lbs, NOT neutered yet (his neuter date was set for the 19th).

He's wonderful with other dogs, good with kitties, is somewhat shy when first approached, and I think he was abused as a small puppy by the way he acts. He just gets tense like he's going to be hit, averts his eyes, but his tail is wagging all the time.

He's housebroken, crate trained. He passed the temperment test with me and the trainer- really a good boy. Not food/toy aggressive. Gets very attached to one person."

Well, first off, how sad.

For a little man that sweet and that pure to be hand-shy --

-- Piper has had some difficult months, that's for sure --

-- months which, mind you, can all but be erased from his mind if he finds the right home --

So the question is, will you take this boy for who he is?

Not for a "cute doggie" or for a "pit bull" --

-- but for a sweet little soul who got started on the wrong track -- and who wants to get righted ASAP -- !!

Well, I had the opportunity to go meet and photograph little mr. piper-pants over the weekend --

-- what a stunning boy -- !!

Piper is an adult, and he has his own personality --

-- he has his own past, and he shows unfortuante signs of neglect or abuse by a male person.

Does Piper's past neglect make him nasty? No -- it makes him apprehensive of new men he meets --

-- does he warm up to these new men he meets? Within minutes.

Should Piper die because of someone's past abuse of him? Absolutely NOT!

Here he is with his foster momma, doing the "I trust you and I love you" lean --

And then, there's Piper's play time --

-- he is a big puppy, always looking for fun, and is really full of play -- !!

Piper would best be placed as an only-dog, or in a multi-dog household where he is the unquestioned alpha --

-- he does best in situations where he can be king -- and that we won't deny him -- !!

And he is athletic, too --

-- so if you're looking for a friend to shed a few pounds with, here's your boy -- !!

Unlike many white pit bulls, Piper is not deaf --

-- so he hears your every request --

-- whether he complies with those requests is another story -- !!

-- the beauty of these dogs is absolutely unquestioned --

-- and please do look at Piper for his beauty, but also realize that inside, he is a very sensitive little man who needs some TLC and understanding --

-- and please understand that he has 14 more years to live, all happily -- !!
