Here is sweet Sugar, a Southern girl who has run in to rough times. Her rescuer writes --
"Sugar was pulled at the same time as Tiffany from Animal Control. When the dogs were seized the individual who had owned them told the ACO's that he had already sold Sugar's pups, they were apparently eight weeks old at the time. As you can see from her picture she is still sagging but is beginning to recover nicely. In the confusion of all the happened with these girls I think you had originally posted Sugar as the 'mom' to Tiff's babies, she certainly does look like them and they like her!
We were told that a "family" with Blue babies had come in to the shelter and all would be killed as nursing moms are not adopted out. As it turned out, the daddy dogs were not on the property and must not have belonged to the individual who was arrested because the 'family' was Tiff, Sugar and the babies. This guy was the 'gangster type' as you can imagine and apparently told the police that the bags of white powder found in his home were 'supplements' for the dogs... he was arrested for cocaine possession with the intent to resale.
Sugar has been very well behaved since being pulled from the pound, Sandy has her in boarding and she has been fully vetted. Sugar appears to get along with other dogs and has even been exposed to a couple of cats and shows no interest in them. One of Sandy's friends took Sugar to her groomer one day for a bath and they let Sugar have the run of the place, she socialized with all the dogs there and was on her best behavior, of course that does not mean a foster or adopter would not still need to be cautious with her.
Sandy is worried to death about getting her out of Georgia and to a safe place, many people who have seen her have wanted her, but they are far from the right type of people. Sandy says she has promised Sugar that she will never again be in a bad situation that she will get a great home with people who value and love her. Sandy travels for work and has no choice but to board Sugar, as she has done for the past two weeks, she was told that Sugar had to be out of the kennel at the vet clinic by Monday due to holiday boarders.
At the clinic, Sugar will not soil her kennel and will 'hold it' until Sandy can go or send someone to take her for walks. This is very sad because Sandy says she is becoming seriously depressed there. Yesterday Sandy's friend Mary took Sugar on an outing for a couple of hours and when she returned Sugar did not want to get out of the car, she just sat there and no amount of coaxing would budge her until Mary had someone come out to help her carry Sugar back in. Sugar cried and whimpered when they returned her to her cage.
This is quiet a story Eric, I know more than you likely have time to read with your schedule but I wanted you to have as much info. as possible about Sugar. If you can take her in Sandy and I would both be very grateful. I am also hoping we might be able to get some donations to cover her transport, Sandy has spent over $500 for vetting and boarding for Sugar and Tiff and says she is just about out of funds."
Well, Sugar is certainly a sweetheart, and she is also a girl in a difficult bind --
-- BUT, let's look at the POSITIVES -- she has Sandy out there, as a guardian angel, Sugar is great with other dogs, as well as with cats, and she MADE IT to YOU, thusfar -- !!
SO, if you're interested in adopting a princess, so be it -- but you have to prove youreself first! You have to promise her smooth sailing ahead, unquestioned devotion, and companionship like she will give you -- unparalleled -- !!
If you're up to that, fill out an adoption application above!
