Well, here's the happy ending and update to little Dino, Dea's runt son, born in September, 2004. Little Dino, now named Roman, is shown at one day old (left). Below he's with his littermates (more can be found on that bunch here) and his momma, Dea. Dea is a princess, and lives in a happy forever some, which can be found here. |
Back to Roman... here he is at around a week old -- being bottle-fed, and the smallest of Dea's 13 babies... |
Here's the little man at 3 weeks, with a case of the PUPPY PIMPLES -- hehehe -- don't worry, baby, they go away by themselves... |
At five weeks and ready for his coming-out, here he is, handsome and posed... |
Here's the October coming-out, when we found 23 wonderful homes for Dea's and Satin's babies... |
Here's Claudette, who fell in love with little Roman... |
... and Jim, who's a stay-at-home Dad to his little son... :D |
So, the coming-out being over, Roman's future was secured... only three more weeks for a little more socialization, a neuter, and a home-check (thanks, Wendy!) and he was good-to-go -- !! |
Here's little Roman at 8-weeks, going to momma... |
... he never forgets a lick...! |
... after some last chases with Glenn's Guido and Mike's Girl, Roman was ready to set out on his own... |
... here he is in January of 2005 -- with QUITE the bed-fellow -- !! |
In February, 2005 -- around five months... and growing in to himself QUITE well -- !! |
No worries that this boy went to the right home -- as seen in this picture!
Puppies are NOT easy to place in great homes, and I am always quite worried about them for the first months. After the initial cutesy-phases wear off, they are most likely to be dumped -- at shelters or in the wrong hands. No such worries here -- !!
So, that's it -- Jim and Claudette have done wonderfully by their boy -- Claudette writes, "Thanks for bringing him into our lives… " --
-- updates like this make my heart sing --
THANK YOU, ALL!

Dino at 11 months -- !!
Well, the boy is coming up on a year old now, and just LOOK at him, in his frog-leg pose -- !!
Great work, Claudette and Jim -- Dino's no longer the runt of ANYONE -- !!
His momma writes:
"He is such a ham. He sleeps like that all the time it is the funniest thing I have never seen a dog sleep like that much less lay around.
He had been sleeping with his nose between his front paws and I was trying to take his picture like that and just as I snapped the picture he looked up.
He even sleeps on his back like that....I will send more pictures when we get closer to his birthday. I can't believe that he is almost a year old.
He weighs about 50lbs, I think he is a peanut but my friends think he is HUGE. I had 110lb German Shepard before him so he will always be a peanut to me.
Will keep you updated...take care"

Roman at 1-1/2!
Well, here's "little" Roman at 1-1/2 years -- WHAT a LOOKER! |
"So here he is, this was taken in mid- 2006 and I just want you to know he posed for these pictures… love his eyes, it's funny how sometimes they seem human.
I come home from work everyday and he talks to me, tells me about his day. I love him to death…"
Well, folks, this is the absolute high-point of rescue, to see a dog come this far in such a great home --
-- GREAT WORK, Claudette and all!
