Well, we needed a happy ending and we certainly got it here -- !!

Here's Puddin', a girl posted this past March --

-- she has since found her forever home in Mass and is lovin' it!

Here's what her foster momma writes:

"Her new dad was working in his garage and Puddin' was sprawled out on the lawn beside the garage keeping watch over him. When she saw me she leapt to her feet and her whole body was wagging. I sat on the ground with her and she gave me LOTS of kisses.

As I stood and visited with her dad, though, she definitely stood by him more than me. I think she is getting the idea that he is her person."

She continues:

"Their neighbors have all met Puddin' and nobody has raised any concerns about her breed. I think they know Dan and Sandy as responsible pet owners, so they're not concerned. When I went to leave Dan asked her, "So do you want to go with her or stay here?" It was almost as if she understood and she went to stand by him, as if to say, "I think I'll take this".

... and finally --

"They are being very patient with her and I think a bond is slowly forming on both sides. They have definitely declared that she isn't going anywhere, this is her final home. I just wanted to give you the update--although it took time, Puddin' seems to finally have a great forever home."

So, we've got a convert it sounds -- !! Here's her email of this morning:

"I can tell you that I have become an ambassador for the pitties. When Puddin' first came to our home in November 2003 I was told we were getting a boxer. When I first laid eyes on her I panicked that she was a pit. I was afraid to let her have contact with our dogs or our young son. Gradually she proved herself trustworthy and was given greater and greater access, until she was ultimately sleeping in our bed (she still sleeps with her new owners).

Because she was so difficult to place we had her in our home for eighteen months. By the time I turned her over to my friend when we left for Massachusetts I was sobbing to leave her. I was ecstatic when, within a month our other friends called to say they wanted her forever. Despite her mistreatment in her youth, she was still a loving animal when treated with kindness and gentleness. My husband and I have fostered over twenty dogs and cats during the course of our marriage and none is more closely held in our hearts than Puddin'. We tell everyone what loving, affectionate dogs the pitties are if you treat them with love, cuddling and gentleness.

They have gotten a bad reputation due to cruel owners and handlers and the word is not out that, with good training and care these are fabulous family pets. My five-year-old still refers to her as "our doggie" and I know she was his favorite. If there is anything we can do to help you educate people about these animals we would be happy to.

Keep in touch and keep up the tremendous work!

Robin"
