Satin's story proves
that storms never last !!
Well, here is Satin, as she came to SPBR last September, pregnant and abandoned... |
Satin was surrendered to a high-kill shelter, pregnant, and the volunteers sent the word out to help this princess -- as you can see, she was quite preggers, and super sweet... |
Well, Satin shortly thereafter gave birth to 11 puppies, 10 of which made it -- prayers to little Olive, who we cremated and remember... thank you, Amy, for providing that remembrance... |
Satin's remaining puppers were EVERYWHERE... and cute as buttons! |
Around 8 weeks, we were BUSY, especially after Dea's and Satin's puppies were combined -- t-w-e-n-t-y--t-h-r-e-e puppers! |
Here's Indigo, now Bella, one of Satin's daughters -- the trainers now say Bella looks part Great Dane -- !! |
... the puppies grew up, were weaned, and were off to their adoptive homes... |
... and Satin didn't complain about that -- she even helped them along!!! |
Next, the question about Satin. Some rescues kill the mothers after placing the puppies, because mothers are so hard to place, and *everyone wants puppies*, not mommas --
-- well, we don't do that here -- if it comes down to that, I'll bow out and let others do the "rescuing" --
-- instead, I went to work on little Satin, talking her up left and right --
Her first destination -- this was a great home for Satin... too bad the dear was a little too prey-driven for the iguana rescue --
-- BUT, these outstanding folk adopted little BOO, whose story can be seen here.
Next, Satin went to a wonderful home with children who loved her very much --
-- until the day after the adoption, when I got a call from the mom saying, "She looks too pit bull to us" --
-- ummmm, "Bring her back" I asked --
Next, a feather in Satin's cap... Brian and Doreen, a newly engaged couple from RI...
... by the way, we LOVE new couples as adopters -- especially when they have "his" and "her" matching jackets -- !!
Brian and Doreen originally adopted Anna from SPBR, and found her to be a little too challenging for them, so they were kind enough when they brought Anna back to take momma Satin back to RI with them!
Anna is adoptable too, and can be found here.
Well, Satin was keen to pack her bags and hit the road, on to her new forever home! |
Here's a scene from the source -- Satin and her new momma -- I would say she's doing QUITE well -- !! |
Doreen has even given Satin a middle name, so she's now "Satin Elizabeth" --
-- that's because Satin shows such a human personality --
-- now THAT'S when you know you've found some GREAT adopters!
So, here's Satin and her forever momma, who we think could pass for a Mariah Carey body-double --
-- ah, Glitter... |
So, perserverance and love have paid off for this girl -- it's the least we could do -- she brought the most beautiful babies in to this world, who gave so many people so much joy --
-- THANK YOU, Brian and Doreen -- and Carol at the shelter, all who proved to Satin that storms never last!
